So I'm backtracking a little bit to post pictures from Wednesday's excursion to Pearl Harbor on Oahu. Actually the USS Arizona National Memorial, you take a ferry out into the harbor to a memorial that was built over the USS Arizona, sunk by Japanese bombers on December 7, 1941. Before heading out to the memorial, we watched a short documentary about the day, with some real footage and lots of facts. I can't imagine what i It made me interested in seeing the Japanese documentary about the same day. When I go to Japan, I'll have to find one...
Smoke stack
The USS Arizona filled up with 500,000 gallons of oil the day before she was attacked. Oil still leaks from the ship almost 7o years later, at a rate of about 9 gallons per day
